4 month old baby boy

My baby boy is 4 months old!! He is getting so big so fast. We had is 4 month check up and everything went well. He is 15 lbs, 15 oz and 25 1/2 inches long putting him in the 75th percentile. I thought for sure he was going to be in the 100th percentile just because everyone is constantly telling me how big he is! Maybe it's those adorable chubby cheeks :) that make him look so chunky:). He got his shots this month and its the saddest thing to watch. The day after his shots he had a fever for the first time in his life. He was a little more fussy, but didn't hold back with his smiles and giggles.

Our pediatrician told us we could start him on purees. ALREADY!! I don't know if I'm ready for this! But we tried it out and it is taking him a while to get used to eating from a spoon, but he is doing pretty well. He likes his squash but hates his peas!

Squash face= ya, sure

Peas face= No thank you!!
Hunter was becoming very attached to his Paci. Not just that he wanted it now and then, but it had gotten to the point where he was waking up 10 times on a normal night crying for it. That means I had to go into his room every 30 mins to an hour to put it back in his mouth. I was getting NO sleep and couldn't keep doing this every night, so we decided to let him cry it out. I am definitely not a fan of the cry it out method and said I would never do it. But there really wasn't another way to do it so we gave it a try. The first night, he cried for a long, long 20 minutes and fell asleep. He didn't wake up again until 4:30 to eat and went right back to sleep without his paci, waking up at 8:00. That has NEVER happened, I was so happy! I haven't gotten that much sleep since .... I can't remember haha. The second night he only fussed for about 5 mins and has been fine going to bed without it since. Naps on the other hand have been hard. Ben and I are softies and after he had been crying for 30 mins we gave in and gave him his paci. We decided to try a different method for nap times. We cut the tip of his paci off a little each day so he learns to not like it himself. It has worked like a charm! after a few days of doing it this way, he now goes down for naps without it and will fuss sometimes, but he is getting better. He wakes up happy every time now and the only way I know he is awake is when I hear him playing and talking in his crib.

Hunter is over his grunting, screeching stage and is now in a whisper stage. He found his D's and will whisper ewes, awes, and das, and play with his tongue. If I didn't know any better, I would think he was chewing on something in his mouth, but its just him playing with his tongue.

Hunters life so far

Hunter has been a great baby, I am so lucky! The first few weeks of his life he cried for food, through diaper changes (not thanks to those cold wipes and diaper rash) and baths. He now LOVES getting his diaper changed and LOVES his baths and only cries when he is hungry or tired. I love getting up with him in the morning because he is full of smiles and giggles. Those few random days when he decides to wake up at 5:00a.m are worth it!

Being a mom is better than I have ever imagined, I love it so much! There is so much love that I feel for him I didn't even know it was possible. I feel like being his mom is what I am here to do. I went back to work part time when he was 12 weeks old and it brakes my heart that I have to pay someone to take care of him when I want to be doing it more than anything. The one and ONLY thing I like about working is coming home haha. Hunter will give me a big smile and get really excited. It makes me feel so good that Hunter gets so happy to see me after I've been gone.

I am amazed at how fast Hunter learns and grows. At 3 1/2 months he is already starting to sit up on his own and learning how to roll from his back to his stomach. He is learning how to hold his own bottle, but has some more practice to do. He is very interested when I eat, he will sit there and stare at me like I should be sharing with him! It kinda makes me feel bad to eat in front of him! He has his three favorite places to be in our apartment. His first favorite is mom and dads room. I don't know why he likes it so much in there but he sure does! The second is in his room on his changing table. He loves looking up at his curtains! and the Third is in the kitchen. He loves being moms "helper". He will sit in his little bouncer and play and watch me clean or cook.

His personality is definitely starting to pop! He loves being around people and doesn't want to miss out on anything. We recently went to a Bartholomew family reunion and he was too fascinated with everyone and everything going on, he hardly took any naps and was too distracted to eat! but don't worry he made up for the lack of sleep and food when we got back.
He is very adventurous. If he is being a little fussy and we put him in his car seat he perks right up and gets very alert almost like he's thinking "yes! where are we going now?!" He also loves being outside so he had a lot of fun on his first camping trip.
He is having a lot of fun with his vocal cords. He plays around with his ewes and awes but his favorite thing to do right now is gurgle his spit or milk and grunt. It's very entertaining!

just a cute pic while waiting for Ben to bring the car around so we could go home

Our Newest Addition, Hunter Theone

You might have heard the saying that goes something like "you have so much crap to do so you take a nap instead". Well I have been such a slacker and have so much to update on, I'm just not going to do it! But I will give you an update on how our newest addition arrived.

The last trimester of pregnancy was great! besides the normal peeing every 5 minutes and constant heart burn, I felt great. I didn't get that big so I never got the waddle or aches and pains most women get (we can thank my height for that!). My due date was April 26th, which was a Friday.  On the Thursday before my due date I noticed some light cramps but thought nothing of it because they were  mild and off and on throughout the day. Friday morning we had a non-stress test that confirmed to me that those cramps were contractions. The doctor said it was very common to get those and everything was fine so I brushed it off and went back to work. I got off at 5:00 and Ben and I went straight to eat at a Chinese restaurant we had been wanting to try. We sat at our table and I said I was going to time the contractions more out of curiosity to see how close together they were. I freaked out because they were 5 minutes apart for more than an hour! I was so excited I could hardly stand it!...until they started slowing down and getting irregular. Then disappointment started settling in. My mom got here late Friday night, or should I say early Saturday morning? The contractions were still irregular but slowly getting stronger so I knew I was making progress. Saturday went by like this and I kept getting texts from Ben saying "is it time yet?!?!?!" haha I think he was a little excited (that or he really wanted to get out of work). We sat around eating dinner around 6:00 and at this point they were strong enough that I had to concentrate to get through them and they were 1 and a half minutes apart so I started freaking out again and told my Mom and Ben that we better get to the hospital because I did NOT want to have this baby in the car! FINALLY the time has come! They get me in my gown and strap the non-stress test around me and check me to find out that I'm only at 3 cm.  They had me walk around the hospital for an hour to see how I progressed but I didn't progress enough so they sent me home. I cried all the way home! I was so disappointed! I was having back labor that had kept me awake all night and made it impossible to get any relief throughout the day so my original plan to have a natural delivery was thrown out the window. After 3 days of pain, I was so ready for that epidural. We get home at 10:00p.m and at 2:15a.m we went back up to the hospital. I remember feeling so mad at Ben for driving so slow because sitting in the car hurt so bad, when the only thing that got me through the pain was getting on all fours and arching my back.....and let me tell you, that is hard to do in the car!! I got admitted at 3:00a.m and finally got my epidural that I basically begged them for. 6 blissful hours later I was holding my precious 7 lbs12 oz 19.5 inch baby boy! I was able to do skin to skin with him right after he was born and am so glad we were able to start his life in the warmth of my arms.

Just getting home from the hospital

living in Rexburg Idaho (2011-2012)

We've spent the year of 2011 working/going to school and spending as much time as we could outdoors and with family.

July of 2011 we went camping with some family and stopped my Mesa Falls on our way back.

Living in Rexburg Idaho wasn't bad at all in 2011/2012 with the winter we had! It almost convinced me that I wanted to live there forever! But then I got some sense knocked into me and realized Rexburg probably wouldn't be blessed with this calm of a winter ever again and would probably make up for it the next year. So I'm happy to say that Ben got Accepted to Weber State University where he will study manufacturing engineering technology. He also got his dream job at a manufacturing company in Ogden so as soon as the winter semester ended and BYU-I we packed up and moved.

How the Adventure Begins

Ben and I were basically living on different planets. But something brought us together. We were meant to be! Ben was living in Cedar City Utah when he decided to move to Idaho Falls to live with his sister. At about that same time I was living in College Station Texas when i decided to move home to Driggs, Idaho. Soon after moving home I moved to Idaho Falls to live with my best friend. This is where Ben and I met. My roommates became friends with Ben and soon I became friends with him as well. Our very first date was to a Collin Ray concert up at BYU-Idaho. From then on we were inseperable!

Ben and I both got accepted to BYU-Idaho and moved to Rexburg in January where Ben spent the semester studying mechanical engineering and I spent the semester studying exercise science. We went through the semester balancing school work and time with each other. Near the end of the semester we planned a weekend with Bens sister and her family to go to a Jazz game in Utah (Bens favorite team). We all stayed at his brother in laws parents house which is where Ben got on one knee and asked me to marry him.

We were able to go down on the court before the game started and play around!

A couple SHORT months later we were sealed together in the Rexburg Idaho temple. It was truly a great experience that I will remember forever! I am so lucky to have shared that day with my close family and friends. We spent our wedding night in Rexburg and left the next day to spend our honeymoon in California where we spent the next few days at Knotts Berry farm, whale watching, chillin at the beach, and spent an evening at the midevil times dinner. During our honeymoon adventure we got connected with someone who worked with NBC and offered to give us a tour of NBC and gave us our free tickets to Universal Studios!
